The potential for energy and cost savings is often very large in industrial applications because of the large volume of heated fluids consumed. The Power-Pipe can recover up to 70% of waste fluid heat and use it to preheat fluids before they enter a primary water heater.
The Power-Pipe DWHR System consists of multiple coils of copper tube wrapped together around a central copper drainpipe. This double-walled heat exchanger efficiently recovers heat energy from waste fluid and reuses it to heat cooler incoming fluid.
Technically known as a falling film heat exchanger, the Power-Pipe is based on a fundamental physical principle called the "falling film" effect. Fluid falling down a vertical drain stack does not run down the middle of that stack, but instead clings to its inside wall. This creates a thin "falling film" from which the all-copper Power-Pipe can readily recover heat energy.
The Power-Pipe's energy and cost savings potential is easily realized in a wide range of applications, recovering heat energy from sources such as coolants, condensates and hot process waters.
Power-Pipe Systems are non-clogging, maintenance-free and scalable for use in large flow and low flow applications.
